Wow! That's a very cool toy you have there.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of your pictures.
Anyhow speaking of cool toys, I've got a funny story about today. Ya see Santa brought my oldest son an remote control helicopter that after a few test flights and a few viewings of it's instructional video we discovered that it seemed to fly alright but the controller wasn't doing it's job. Actually it appeared to be stuck in a position inside that kept telling the helicopter to climb higher.
We figured Walmart might take the exchange for Santa for a new one that actually works so we asked Kevin not to play with it until replaced it tomorrow.
Well a kid can't help but being a kid. Especially since this helicopter seemed to be his favorite toy. When he was asked to walk the dog he decided to take his pet helicopter with him. We didn't realize it until wifie pointed out the bay window at the tiny battery operated UFO heading our way.
As it approached the double pane insulated glass it abruptly reversed direction. I think this had more to do with the wind blowing from my mother-in-laws mouth as she screamed it was going to break the glass.
So now I look at Wifie who has a better vantage point than what my horizontal view from the couch was providing me.
She yelled, "Kevin, turn it off!" Followed by an outloud thought, "Oh my that thing is getting pretty high..."
Kevin looked up at the heavens in amazement. Thrilled and proud of how incredibly high and far his little machine was going this time. His useless remote control pointed upwards at the craft as if he had something to do with the direction it was flying.
Then the boy stood on the front lawn cheering as the $50 toy continued flying a few stories high and across the roadway towards the woods of the neighboring properties.
Andrea said I think I see it in a tree as she banged on the window to yell at her young pilot.
I walked outside to help my son find it. I think he expected me to yell at him or something but when he saw me laughing about the circumstances he felt it okay to tell me how cool it was to see it flying that high and far. He walked down the street further than I ever expected to be walking. I kept asking "Are you sure it went this far?" The light rain was now turning into a hard sleet. He said smiling, "Dad, that thing was like super charged! I could not believe how far it was going. It was so cool!"
By now all my neighbors must see me, my son and then my wife walking up and down the road looking in the trees and woods for the downed aircraft. I'm thinking to myself that they must be saying, "Looks like the Clappy family lost their pet parakeet" as we stared at the treeline."
The weather is getting really bad now and I figure well maybe we'll just look tomorrow and hopefully dry it out enough if we find it and bring it back to the store claiming it never worked in the first place.
But no, they are on a mission. After I dry off, I look out the window and see my mother-in-law wearing Anthony's new spy goggles with the built in binoculars. I nearly fell over in laughter from the sight of it. Pretty soon they have half the neighbors outside aiding in the man-hunt for survivors of the downed chopper.
After an exhausting search they eventually gave up. Kevin seems sort of alright about not finding it. I suppose he didn't really have the time to bond with it. He still is amazed with how high he was able to get the thing to fly.
I figure by now, its halfway over New Jersey.
We'll give a good look again tomorrow. ...just wish it wasn't painted in a green and black camaflaged fashion.
