earthquake in Iran : 2K known dead, potentially 20K dead.

In the ancient city of Bam, Iran , which has a population of about 100K, about 20K are expected to be found dead. Iran has asked for international assistance to cope with the situation.

2 Russian planes loaded with tents, medical supplies, sniffer dogs etc are on their way to Iran.

IMO, now would be a good time and way to win "hearts and minds" in the region : we have many troops in Iraq. some could be redeployed as Emergency Response Team in Iran.
