No, it's not. It's recognizing that it's workable, that it produces a desirable life style. That the people who practice it believe that it came originally from God matters not. Well, it's a bit annoying, but as long as they practice the ethics and we practice the ethics, we all do fine so let them have their illusions.

I have yet to see an atheist who claims to have extracted their view from theism.

It was the theists who codified the ethics. They were the scholars who created the taxonomy and wrote the stuff down. I give credit where credit is due. That the philosophers who put the stuff together thought it divinely inspired doesn't discredit it. They may have had too much sacramental wine, but there's still a core of useful ethics in there.
