The Latin American authors I admire are people like Guillermo Cabrera Infante, author of Three Trapped Tigers, who signed the February 2, 1989 letter to FCR and has been a constant thorn in FCR's side. A Marxist of the Marx Brothers kind. With your penchant for puns, humor, and creative use of language and words, I suspect that, like me, you thoroughly enjoyed TTT. If not, I highly recommend it.
