ok question for you. Do you think the white house economic team thinks we are in the midst of a "boom" right now? I think they may actually think this, which is quite sad and scary. I really think these retail numbers took some economists by surprise- this is just my assessment from watching CNBC but its all I have to go on. The unemployment figures seem to slap them upside the head every time. We need smarter people than this in government, this is ridiculous. And wrt retail, my belief is that the retailers like GAP actually overstocked for this xmas season thanks to all this bogus treasury data. Now they are stuck. You could have asked anyone on the street if this was going to be a blowout xmas and they would have said no.
