Karen, a couple thoughts, FWIW :
1. Mad cow disease takes about 6 years to recognize as a disease. The cow in question was supposedly imported into US in 2001. Strangely, when Canada had 1 mad cow incidence, US banned import of all Canadian beef. Even stranger, even after UK had eliminated their cattle crop, there still is a US ban on beef imports from UK.
2. re illegal immigrants : Personally I'm p'd off. It took me 8 years to transition from a work visa, to a green card, to a US citizen. I know friends who spent 8 years or so just to get a green card. This idea of "temporary work visas which can be converted to permanent residency after 3 years" just does not appeal to me. For those who dont know, examples of a work visa are an H1B or L1 visa - it says "u work for a specific employer, in a specific role, at a specific location, for a defined period". So, what the hell is this "new work visa" doing ? |
