I don't want a hot-rod; I require a stone-stock vehicle.
The CRX is no longer made!!!
It's a front-driver in any case. Come on man, right back atcha.
There ARE "driverly" Bimmers out there. Without tush-toasters. I submit that the M3/4 is faster and nicer inside than all but dedicated two-seat copbaits like the Mits or a Porsche. Now a Z28, taht's a poseur machine.
NSXs? Hopeless hopeless accommodations. Don't forget, I'm not short. I'd sooner buy a new 'Vette six-speed. Much kinder on tall folks, and will suck the doorz off an NSX. With muuch lower maintenance costs (figuring door dings).
I need to look at an all-around car, not an auto-crosser.

My car will need to meet the following requirements: Fits four people my size, with a door for each.
Will clear the absolutely savage speed bumps at my work. A late RX7 or Vette will fail this test.
Spouse will be able to drive it without specialized coaching about curbs, severe crowns on local roads, etc. Power steering a must.
Comfy for an hour on bad Hwy 101 pavement.
Will get to the beach&back without losing composure on lumpy mountain roads with deep chuckholes.
Gets good gas mileage; use og Regular is a plus.
Any recco's in this class?

PS The Consulier was a miniature Trans Am racer built by a Florida entrepreneur around the Mopar turbo four-banger. Zippy acceleration, close-ratio tranny, weighed like 1300lbs., had better than 1 lateral g of cornering. Dog-ugly, none too cheap, but made Porsches look like Caddies in the twisties. Road&Track did a write-up in '91 or '92 I believe. If you don't mind a custom platform, and like extreme cornering ability, look it up!
