Costs have not increased in mining since 1980, they have gone down. Labour has not increased significantly and neither have materials as it is a buyer's market.

Most of your cost in driving the drift is labour/cycle time. If 8 feet of advance could be reduced to one shift, the cost would be dramatically lower. That is why I am thinking of going to trackless drifting for the advance, and adding the track/pipe afterwards. I will bet I reduce my costs by 1/3.
