<<<You may have stumbled on the win-win solution. The other side may have the same solution in mind. With nuclear and biological weapons as they are, both sides can achieve the same goal.>>>

Any Muslim Nation leader that proclaims publicly that
his religion forces him to eliminate all non-believers
is in dire trouble and now knows it.
Two countries have had enforced regime changes at a price of less that 700 US combat casualties.
The modern way, and IMO the right has been to try to save the civilians and some of our troops have been sacrificed to that end. We did have the power to totally crush Iraq.

Any country that is known to harbor border-hopping terrorists- the same applies. The world will not tolerate it
Arab leaders now know that and some like SA are taking action.
Its beginning to look like enforcers or monitors may be needed in many countries for long periods. At least until a stable functioning government is established.
The UN should have a big role in that effort but its goal is to have a talking forum where good and bad both have a voice and get to communicate. If the UN gets teeth then the "bad" nations would tend to leave.
Perhaps it has turned out for the best that the UN condemned Saddam for 12 years, but alas, was unable to prevent a loose cannon -a wild-a$$ed cowboy like GWB, from trying to save the world from an economic disaster.
Just have patience, they are still trying to bring down airliners, and when they hit an Air France transport attitudes will change.
