I don't know how much would be shorted now due to the price, but don't forget they make lots on just 1/32. If they sell @ 15/16 and cover @ 7/8 or 3/4, they make a bundle on all their shares. They don't look for long haul, just all the little movements each day. They don't need but .0625 cents to make a nice profit because they are doing it all day long and every day. Volume won't punch out the offers until there is news. The MM can just keep offering shares until the buying gets frustrated or filled and leaves, thus the price get lowered they cover as the public get frustrated and the price goes lower.
