Major Editorial in "The New York Times" today. CSPAN led with it this morning. Their version of the Republican Party.

I started writing a piece yesterday very much like this one. I think the shift in the Republican Party under Bush will get a lot of ink over the next couple of years. I first noticed the theme in the press just a month or two ago. What I'm not seeing in the press is much objection from the "Republican wing of the Republican party," which was the point of my piece. It used to be that, whether you agreed with them or not, you could rely on the righties to at least provide ballast in areas of fiscal responsibility and federalism. That seems to be gone. Hope those die-hard Republicans who actually care about that stuff show up before the only choice we have is which flavor of big brother we serve.
