Aw, come on, PT, get real. You think there was ever an administration that didn't "help out" its contributors?
Let's see, the previous Dem prexy was Carter: Vice President Gore's phone solicitations from his office prompted much discussion about whether the calls violated the law that prohibits fund-raising on federal property. But what were Gore's alternatives? Does he motor over to the DNC's office, stand in a phone booth on Pennsylvania Avenue, or go home whenever he wants to make a fund-raising call? (The Justice Department, during the Carter administration, conveniently declared the president's living quarters "private" and therefore not covered by this law. That would presumably cover the vice president's residence, too.) washingtonpost.com Oh, that was the Washington Post, not Fox News.
Griffin Bell, attorney general in the Carter administration, appointed what was considered the last special counsel before the independent counsel law went into full effect, to investigate allegations that the Carter family peanut business may have been illegally laundering campaign contributions. law.northwestern.edu;
The previous Dem was LBJ. You REALLY don't want to go there.
Wanna try JFK? :-)
You have no issues left. That's why you're inventing this. |
