Most of those 15 nations thought they were voting for inspections, not war.

Not my fault they couldn't read the resolution.. They shouldn't have voted for it if they were not convinced Iraq wasn't in material breach.

They were voting for 90 days worth of inspection, by the end of which Saddam was required to be in compliance with all disarmament mandates..

It was clear by the beginning of March that this was not the case, and there was no UN authority to continue the inspection process.

Bottom line, 1441 was an ultimatum.. a last chance for Saddam to come clean before the use of force (as approved by congress prior to 1441's passing) became the next option.

He failed to comply and force was used. Simple as that.. (except for those of you who insist on making it ridiculously and morally complex).
