Are there portions of the disk you do not want to erase? If not I would find a low-level format utility (probably you can download one from the manufacturer's website). This writes 0's (or is it 1's?) to each bit on the disk.

If you need to save one or more partitions, I don't know what to do other than transfer those partitions to another disk, do the LL format and then transfer back.

Nothing like starting fresh <g>.
