wily,

Thanks I will give it a try. I should say that this is not normal. I have formated at least 50 drives (I have built many computer for friends) and I have never had any problems.

The Windows XP drive manager will not even offer "format" as an option for this drive. My other drives do have this option.

I was able to do a format from the right click in the file explorer, but on the very last bar of the meter a window popped up and stated that Windows could not format this drive. Never seen that before. Try it again and got the same result.

The damn virus comes back in after a few days. I think I may have finally killed it, as the latest scan of the infected files shows no trace; but I thought that before.

I will try the Max Blast 3, but the drive shipped with Max Blast 2, so it should be a valid choice for this drive.

You are right that the OC is not loaded, and this was one of the reason that I am so perplexed. Its like something on the drive is interfering with the drive scan and thus won't allow me to complete the format.

Its very strange, but I'll keep working on it and post the resolution here just in case you are curious.

Thanks again for your help.
