OMD, One of the fanciest ways to lie is with statistics. Re: consumers' retail spending grew 6.5% for the Thanksgiving-to-Christmas shopping season, according to data showing MasterCard use during the period And why doesn't the Wall Street report include data on cash sales? Are they trying to hide in plain daylight? Could it be because cash-strapped consumers are turning to an obscure second-tier credit card at an alarming rate? Why don't they announce cash sales? How about Visa sales? Why did they choose to highlight a rather obscure statistic to attempt to prove their case?
