Could be . . in terms of how the 802.11n standard develops I suppose Broadcom wants to step in front of Airgo, bandspeed and others. The other motivation is to try to step in front of Intel's efforts to set the tone for platform development via WiMAX. Intel's ability to shoe horn their way into the booming laptop sector despite being late out of the gate can trump Broadcom and other IC suppliers best laid plans.

Cisco has done a lot with Broadcom in the past (who hasn't Cisco worked closely with? ; ^) I wonder if something is shaping up between these two (Cisco and Broadcom) for extended 802.11x products? Statements from Cisco indicate they plan to adhere to standards . . but that wouldn't be the first time for them to try to pre-empt. I don't expect an answer . . . but doesn't hurt to ask.
