To my friends here on the Porch,

Gratuitous begging ahead.

elpolvo (the Goober) thinks I need to drop a few pounds. I'm not saying he's right, but I'm not arguing with him either. I insulted him back, one thing led to another, and a challenge was issued.

Polvie and I are having a contest to see who can drop the most baggage between now and April 1. This stinks, 'cause now I have to get serious about this. To soften the blow, our motivation is to raise money for our very own Scott Mantz's Care to Help Project, which uses donated funds to drill fresh water wells in remote villages of Vietnam. If you'd like to learn a bit about Care to Help, Scott can answer any questions you have; otherwise, the website has lots of information:

caretohelp.org

I'm seeking sponsors to donate to Care to Help a sum for every pound I lose in the next three months. Two worthy causes will benefit, the more important one being Care to Help. Any pledge would be fine, with your checks paid directly to Care to Help (which is a 501(c)(3) organization).

Predictably, Polvie is whipping the NNBM masses into a frenzy:

Message 19636010

Message 19636078

Message 19636155

I'm guessing that the Porch has some generous folks who might be willing to pledge a few coins for this endeavor. Also, I already ran my mouth and told Polvie I'd show him up. Is anyone willing to help bail me out?

You may respond in public or private, in any amount you wish. Thanks in advance for any help you're willing to give.

John
