Just a follow up to the last post. I went back to the end of 1995 and working forward, I took a quick look at the 2 to 4 week period going from each year end into the beginning of the next year. In other words, the data in the table below covers either a 2 week, 3 week or 4 week period to show the change as one year ends and the new year begins. All the transition periods were positive - some, like 00/01, by a very large amount.
