The way the new Patriot Act II laws are written, nothing prevents you from being next.

Actually, something does... Not being involved in such behavior that someone would need to target me for a criminal investigation.

There is no accountability

That's simply ridiculous... Please cite specific sections of the Patriot Act that permits US citizens not engaged in terrorist activities (such as the case of Padilla aiding a foreign enemy) to be held without a writ of habeus corpus?

The current law even allows you to be executed in secret.

Well, you're still here.. And don't you think if they want to execute someone in secret, there's nothing to prevent that even now?

After all, maybe all of those murders we hear about in the news are actually "secret executions" carried out with methods that preserve security and "plausible deniability"..

Methinks your paranoia is just a bit extreme.. The last time I checked, politicians still needed to be elected to office.

Thus, until they take away that vote by the common citizen (which would mean scrapping the constitution), they still have to be accountable to the public.
