Of course there are. Luddites destroyed early steam-powered mills because they couldn't compete.

So: Would you rather live in the early 18th century or now? Think about what happens if you get an abscessed tooth, bacterial pneumonia or a heart attack. And your chances of getting the plague, cholera, or smallpox and the consequences.

I think "The Simpson's" weren't on then either.
