I don't care about Dean, my only fear was that both parties would present fiscally irresponsible selections. Dean, despite being labelled a leftie, is actually a fiscal conservative, which is my main concern. So he is ok with me although I don't know much about him. Conservatives bash him for high taxes in Vermont, but what they miss is that Vermont provides healthcare to its residents. Therefore you need to net out a few thousand per person for that huge benefit, and knock some HHS payments out at the state level, because HHS is basically a very expensive healthcare service paid for by taxpayers to subsidize huge companies like walmart who don't pay benefits to employees, at least in my state. (when the walmart employees or intel subcontractors get sick they go right to the emergency room for free)

I don't know if Dean's healthcare solution would work for the country. But he sided with Newt Gingrich in the early 90s on how to fix the SS program (raise retirement age etc)- he won't admit this now, of course because he is trying to win the primary. I like the fact that he goes against democratic tax and spend ideals. What really scares me is Bush's spending. It is completely out of control.
