Hello Yogizuna, On Message 19639908 <<lazy fellow Americans>>, the way to buy things not of China's manufacturing is to make things on own, meaning at competitive cost, through the application of capital, smarts and diligence, but to do so in a globalized world would necessarily mean a reduced standard of living for many in the developed world, and no politician will likely sign on to that program and remain in the job for very long.
I may have misunderstood your point, if you actually meant your fellow Americans are not shopping diligently enough by specifically looking for non-China manufactured things.
If so, then at some point in this scheme of logic, one must also consider divesting of all shares in companies that either buy or sell to China, otherwise one is still likely to be supporting the rise of the Chinese military machine, and helping to subjugate us freedom-loving Hong Kong folks under a reign of terror and despair, and the people in Shanghai in front of the barrel of a gun.
Same logic applies to the support for the US military activities in the Middle East, for the effort is paying off big time in China, enabling the supply of Chinese goods to Iraq (TV stations, televisions, etc) and the purchasing of USD 32/barrel oil to China.
Will your effort be only applied to goods from China, or is Russia, Japan, Israel, Eastern Europe, and Western Europe (specifically France and Germany) penciled in as well?
