Hi blake paterson; The whole point of that article is that the memory makers knew that the RDRAM market was going to be tiny, and they were afraid of ending up in oversupply. In other words, the memory makers knew that RDRAM wasn't going to make it, and that was as early as 1998-99, LOL.
Re: "With Samsung building significant amounts of product, we need to work with them to limit the supply in the market, otherwise we both will be competing for market share, which will result in an oversupply. We have to meet with Samsung and discuss our and their production plans."
Micron is going to talk about price fixing in DRAMs. You think that they're going to talk about price fixing in RDRAMs? Of course not. Micron never made any significant number of Rambus memory, so there was never any reason for them to price fix them.
Instead, Micron will be talking about price fixing in SDRAM or DDR.
In other words, the government accusation will be that SDRAM and/or DDR were sold at excessively high prices, not RDRAM. In fact, since RDRAM was always much more expensive, that just gives further evidence that RDRAM was more expensive to make (otherwise the memory makers would have produced it instead of being so afraid of overproducing it, as they certainly weren't afraid of overproducing SDRAM or DDR), which undercuts Rambus' claim that their technology was superior.
