U.S. officials aren't sure why Gaddafi was reaching out to the international community and pledging privately to disarm as his government was acquiring a large shipment of weapons-development equipment. That had to come from State eggheads, for sure. I can think of a reason. Any thinking person could. Big duh on that one, folks. Derek
