Not impressed? Me, neither.

In my experience, it can work, but only if both parties have some modicum of honesty and integrity, which is rarely the case. Otherwise, life is too short to spend it trading arguments with sleazebags. Especially considering that it may take years of haggling with the USPTO (biased examiners, etc.) just to establish the IP in the first place.

Trade secrets is an interesting alternative to consider if you're way out in front and against the conventional wisdom.
