One has to use basic logic or else all discussion devolves into a mix of conspiracy theories, none of which ever leads to the truth, and only results in the exercise of finger pointing.
The reality is that there are probably 100's of threats received on a weekly basis. It's probably more like 1000's. One can only imagine the pressure on our "intelligence" operatives and higher ups, trying to figure out which is real, pretend, feint, fake lead, etc.
Yet, they are professionals and billions are spent on this and we are justified in expecting that our intelligence community will protect us. This may not be possible in an open society and that's why difficult choices have to be made.
The finger pointing that I would exercise would be to strongly punish those who waste our resources by refusing to share information, in protection of their fiefdom. The system itself should be re-thought if the inefficiencies before 9/11 remain.
All this conspiracy posting about Bush doing it or other whacko stuff really takes away from getting better results from these resources. Expose the truth. Have thorough investigation. Make sure that those who stone wall in the administration are outed. I agree with all that. But getting back to logic, they are protecting themselves in an election, incompetence and inefficiency that predates this administration and Saudi Arabia. But no way did Bush or anyone associated with Bush do or allow 9/11. Reality bites. |
