Sometimes my late-night posts aren't as clear as they might be.

The basic logic is this - we tolerate a certain amount of crime and other tragedies because they are inevitable. We never achieve a zero-level of anything bad despite our best efforts. This is partly because we have to use government to stop them, a flawed organization (like all human endeavors).

My main point is that infinite funding to government organizations cannot and will not, by definition, "end" terrorism any more than we ever ended drugs or poverty. Big sacrifices in liberties will not do the trick either.

I agree completely, more than completely, about the futility of hidden conspiracy games.

My general point is let's be realistic in how we act, how we spend, whether we live our lives in fear and how we cope with the damage from inevitable bad things that happen in our lives.

And if the point is to marshal public resources to prevent bad things from happening to innocent people, let's not single out one class of potential innocent victims and ignore much larger classes of actual victims.
