HIGH-VALUE TARGETS CAPTURED IN AL ANBAR PROVINCE AR RUTBAH, Iraq – Elements of 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment captured Abu Mohammed on Jan. 01. Abu Mohammed was a Coalition Joint Task Force 7 high value target and a key facilitator operating in the Al Anbar Province. He is believed to be responsible for moving foreign fighters and large sums of cash throughout the area of operations. Third ACR elements found Abu Mohammed in a cab approximately 200 meters from the international border. Mohammed and the driver were taken into custody. In response to information surrounding the capture of Abu Mohammed, elements of 3rd ACR conducted an immediate cordon and search of a suspected foreign fighter transit point in Ar Rutbah this afternoon. The operation was conducted successfully and resulted in the capture of three additional personnel, small arms weapons, and a large amount of documents potentially linked to Abu Mohammed’s actions. centcom.mil
