wily, I do not like the MS activation either, but I have no real alternative. They do give you 30 days and its pretty easy to activate online. I was a bit pissed when they sent me a "warning" that it appeared I was using the OS on two machines; the fine print informs you that this is a felony. And they wanted me to respond to a MS link with my credit card info for possible charges. Undefined charges LOL! As soon as I activated online the MS system must have been able to verify that it was the same system as the first install. Most everyone has something to complain about with MS. In the big picture our lives are much better. Except if you are using Windows ME (what a pile of garbage). I am very pleased with with XP Pro. It was very easy to install (including third party drivers for Raid), and it has been rock solid. When I first installed it, I didn't have to reboot for over 2 months. As for the dream machine, I realized that my current box is now 21 months old. That is a record for me, as I usually build a new one every year. I did upgrade my video card to the ATI AIW 9600, but I have not found a reason yet to dump the P4 1.6 and my rock solid Epox 4SDA+ board. I will see what it takes to run Doom 3 and then probably build a 2.8 3200 system. Good luck and happy new year. TH
