Strange, but True : New Years eve was also my neighbor's 21st b'day celebration. Along with a friend of his, we went to the liquor store to get some booze. His friend serves in the Navy, and is home for a week's R&R. She is 20 years old, and offerred to pay for the booze. The shopkeeper carded her, and said "cant sell - under age". We worked around the situation by me paying, and she repaying me.

I can't understand a few things :
- A person is old enough to fight & possibly die for the country but can not buy a drink ?
- A person is old enough to drive a car, and possibly kill people or die themselves, but can not buy a drink ?
- A person is old enough to vote for the President, but can not buy a drink ?
