Long term lurker in this thread. I started to look at some coal stocks in U.S and China. Anyone has opinions on the near term future (6 months to a year) of the coal price in US and China? looking into BTU, FDG, ACI, MEE and YZC (China coal play) and it seems these stocks already has a significant move last year. However, they don't seem to make a lot of money yet and the 2004 forecast are not very impressive either. What is the driver for the price of coal in the next year? I believed that NG will continue to be high for the next few years. However, NG and coal are not really interchangeable. So the demand of coal seems to be driven primary by economic activities in US (and China for the coal companies in China).Does it warrant the 30 -100% raise of these coal companies in 2003? Any particular names that seem interesting?
