"How would you treat a yoga master who has reached a state of nirvana?"

With Basmati rice from the Himalayans, and with cabernet sauvignon from California.

"If your expert has a lifetime of experience it would mean he is dead. Did you animate him with incantation or medication?"

Oh, I think it is possible and proper for a person to be alive and yet refer to their "lifetime" of regrets, experiences, and so forth. The meaning of Duration does include "continuance in time", after all.

"You are fixating on the voices to change the subject. What really bothers you about this historical figure is voices or no voices she was inspired to effect real change. People don't like Joan d'Arc because she was not planned and could not be controlled. Was the greed that put Joan to death more legitimate and less worthy of treatment than the voices she claimed to have heard? Would you pin a medal on the one and crucify with medications the other?"

Sheer silliness!

You certainly have no reason to consider me an apologist for priests...and their silly pretenses to judge and determine human life. Nor do you have any justification to imply that I intend anything derogatory toward Joan.

I think it is undeniable that her voices and visions were abnormal. I have no need to insist that her particular abnormality necessarily should invite "treatment". My key point was that the attribution of such abnormal behaviour to supernatural forces has justified terrible torture and murder; because it is human beings with human agendas and political motives who determine whether these possessions are sourced in good or evil.

Of course, I do not believe that angels guided her to do the things she did, and to die the way she did. When God takes sides and leads an army--every man, child, and plain woman is put to the death unto the last breath. Only the cute and the young are allowed to live. And God has never favoured the French or the English: they are both too haughty to attract Divine excitement.
