That is an old line "I am a rebulican but I am voting for" Or the reverse "I am a Democrat, but I am voting for" Both are used to frequently.

I believe the Democrat line was even found in a memo with instructions to call CNN and a number of radio stations around the country. Whichever party uses it, it is a construct to afford believability to the author..right?

I would hope you say that is correct as you called the author of a similar piece in the Sierra an obviously operative. Maybe it is only you that can claim such things.
