Gore should have rode into the WH on a landslide. He didn't. Why?

I don't know about landslides. This country is fairly evenly divided politically. But Gore would have won the election if not for any one of several reasons. Any one of which would have given him the presidency:

1. Nader candidacy took more votes from the dems than the reps. 20,000 votes in Florida alone. More than enough to win Florida.

2. Faulty voting machines used in several counties. Including the famous butterfly ballot that somehow tricked voters into voting for Buchanan. More than 3,000 votes.

3. Purging of the voter rolls in Florida of some 60,000 black voters.

Any one of those things didn't happen and Gore would have had just under 300 electoral votes. A convincing win indeed if any one of the above actions were prevented.
