Note: Interesting - the Canadian soldiers deployed to Afghanistan are wearing their green uniforms rather than the sand-coloured ones.

The main reason for this is so that the Afghans don't confuse them for Americans.

Marines may go back to Iraq in high-visibilty uniforms as psychological move toward reducing attacks
