Piffle. The UN awarded them part of Palestine. Have you conveniently forgotten the 1947 U.N. Resaolution calling for the partition of Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state? Sure, they had to fight to control it -- if the UN gave my home to the Russians I would fight to keep it, too.

Any problem can be solved if you ignore the past totally. But maybe you haven't noticed it, but people do care about the past, they do care about land they have lived on for centuries, they do care about the places where there ancestors are buried, they do care about places that are holy to them.
