Every word of Jacob's posts make it crystal clear that ONLY America is the aggressor, ONLY America is the sinner. Iraq is just so defensless, no mention of Saddam's calls for jihad, training of terrorists at Salman Pak, or open financing of suicide bombers. These are not the actions of a "small and defenseless" power, however much reflexive anti-Americanism makes you want to join Saddam's defense team.

Yes, Iraq attacked its neighbors, and the last of the attacks were seen more than a decade ago, before Iraq got a good whacking

They tried twice since then, once on the Kuwait border in 94 and once on the Kurdish in 98, and were only dissuaded by active military response. Only the containment of sanctions and the no fly zones prevented repeat invasions, and these were breaking down.

I know you like to repeat the Left's mantra that containment was working just fine, and Saddam had nothing to do with terrorism, nothing at all. But no matter how many times you repeat these lines, they are not true.

Again, you responded to something other than the thesis actually presented

The thesis presented was that since Iraq was not a conventional threat, America had no right to feel threatened. This thesis is absurd in a post 9/11 world. Any country a) run by a crazy dictator b) openly hostile to America c) embracing the mantle of Islamic jihad, d) rejoicing in 9/11, e) training, aiding and hiring Islamist terrorists, as Saddam was, is an OBVIOUS threat to the US today. And as the pre-war situation stood, we were losing to Saddam because sanctions were collapsing.
