And another one on the competitiveness of US exports:

Q: Our exports haven't budged much for years, have they?

A: They've been pretty sluggish -- and lopsided. Our exports to China have been very strong, up more than 20%. But our exports ex-China are up only 2%. But because of the breadth of the global expansion, exports ex-China are likely to go up, which would make our export market pretty healthy. The consequence is going to be a decline in the trade deficit.
