I was fifteen in 1964 and I passed out Goldwater literature (primarily "A Choice Not An Echo") in a heavily Democratic Chicago neighborhood. Hillary was doing the same thing in the northwest suburbs. Where did she go wrong? Bad parenting?

I agree with your observation that Dean is no Goldwater. He had a set of core beliefs that he adhered to on a consistent basis. Given the assassination of Kennedy, it would have been difficult, if not impossible, for any Republican to have beaten Johnson.
