Greetings IGIT,
You stated previously this scripture;
<<< Peter 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
But you see, I do consider who the letters are addressed too. But my friend Robert, let's revisit this verse and see if your logic stands up to any reason...
9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
You are right, definitely speaking to the people of God. We absolutely agree on this.
But when this verse talks about not wanting anyone to perish, why would this have to be stated to the people of God, people who already will not perish? It would be totally irrelevant. Do you think God wastes his words? Of course not!! It becomes perfectly clear this teaching is talking to people of God about people not of God. You know the ones, like mentioned in the earlier verses, qualified as ungodly men and scoffers. Otherwise the verse is a waste. Sorry, Robert, nothing of God is a waste. Does God not talk to believers about unbelievers? Of course he does. He does so many times throughout the Bible. >>>
With due respect,to say that this verse is God talking to believers about unbelievers is a figment of your imagination.
Here is the verse;
<< The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. >>
The " YOU " and " everyone " is the PEOPLE of God, absolutely no one else.
Firstly, The letter is written to the people of God.
The time frame is between AD 33 to Ad 70.
This final time period is when all the Epistles to the Church were written. Should you choose to read Santiago's list of what the early church expected of Christ, it would greatly help you see, and understand that the early church believed the Lord Jesus Christ, when He said, He would return within the lifetime of some of them now living.
The second coming of Christ came to pass at 70AD, just as Our Lord stated.
The Lord is stating that all of His elect or chosen ones will be saved prior to His Glorious return in 70AD, He is patient, waiting for His own to come to repentance.
IGIT. please consider the preterist view, you can go to thier webpage at;
www.preterist.org
If your open and desire to know TRUTH, you must be willing to admit to yourself that you have been deceived in to believing the rubbish about the future second coming of Christ is yet future.
Think about it for a moment,...........maybe longer, You are making out Our Lord Jesus Christ to be a liar and a false prophet by saying what He said, would come to pass, has not happened.
May The Lord God Almighty grant you the Grace, Courage, and Light, to understand and know, that what His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ declared would happen with the close of the Mosaic economy........ DID INDEED HAPPEN at 70 AD
