the guy is a space dog. price of the oil/ng/coal/fossil fuels will ration who gets what and when. his call to arms(panic) is as if he has discovered something. simple economics will solve the fossil fuel problem as the price gets really high and if the fuel can't be found/produced cheaply anymore. there are thousands of entrepreneurs worldwide who would just love to put their alternative energy business plan together and get it financed. there are thousands of researchers at large companies who would love the price of fossil fuel to go way up so their alternative energy research could get more funding and applications. more government funding for alternative energy is great (just like arpa funding was good for the original arpanet, etc.), but government dictates about energy don't solve real energy scarcity/abundance problems.
