The verse you quoted is;

You are right, Gods elect will never perish, but that is not the context of what is being stated.

The word " some " in this passage refers to the scoffers as per previous verses.

The words " you ", " anyone ", " everyone " is referring to the elect of God.

Peter is simply stating to the Church, that the promised return of the Lord Jesus Christ, being imminent to occur in some of thier lifetimes, would not happen until all those whom God has chosen have been saved.

Again the time frame is about 40 years, up until 70 AD, when the Lord returned to Judge the wicked and just.
