"The opinion is that Iraq now is a mess that must be cleaned up. "

You cant answer my question of what to do now with one glib sentence. Your PNAC/Neocon conspiracy of history is not helpful at all. Empire building is certainly not what this is about. It is about the best defense being a good offense. Put the terrorists out of business and try to deal with the underlying causes. What do you suppose is the pnac view of the deal with khaddafi or a potential deal with assad or the continuing relationship with the saudi princes? There is no unified view. Some favor short term alliance to achieve victory. Others see this compromise with our democratic rhetoric and ideals as real dangerous.
I admit that i am not a happy camper as each day 2 americans are murdered in iraq. Yesterday a boy who went to HS with my son, was killed. This aint easy. We must all think this thru and then do it again every day.
The name calling should stop on both sides. By November, who knows, i may vote for dean. I have voted in strange ways in the past and although i feel a kinship with bush(9/11 actions) and support the basic fp and the tax cut, i never am 100% comfortable with his team so i am gettable if you want to adjust your thinking on this great neocon/pnac monolith that i am apparently a part of. Do you really think Perle, Kristol, Cheney, Rummy, Wolfy and moi talk frequently? These are just folks who see us at war and iraq as one front in that war. I understand fully your view re: iraq. I agree with them but without wmds(yet), saddam post war seems less of a threat than we thought he was. But of course read Hans Blix and you can see that although he was against the war, he did feel saddam had these wmds as did the french too. Oppose bush policy sure, but dont rewrite the facts. mike
PS There is something about dean the person i do not like. He reminds me of the med students i met while in grad school. They all though themselves perfect and immune from the rules the rest of us had to follow. ARROGANCE 101 was the course of choice. Now of course bush cut that class. He was out drinking. <g>
