Jerry,

I play internet radio in WinAmp 2.8. That allows me to use the MP3pro plug in that makes 32k streaming audio sound close to 128k quality. (There is no plug in yet that works with 3.0 or above, to my knowledge.) Many Live365 stations broadcast in mp3pro. If you play Live365 in WinAmp, you can take advantage of the high quality without paying a Live365 subscription for their pro player. Still get the ads though. The lower the bandwidth of the stream the better you'll do at keeping a continuous flow using a dial up connection. There are many stations that broadcast in 24k and 32k, which sounds acceptable to me in MP3Pro. They sound pretty "dead" in straight mp3, however.

BTW, you can still have WinAmp5.0 on your system and use it when you like, but 2.8 would have to be the default player.
