I feel about the Avanti as you do about the Corvair. Verbatim. Now I don't hold the Corvair in any particularly high esteem myself, being more of an Enzophile. As for debating it, I'd wager that we've established that our automotive tastes...differ. You're entitled to say the Avanti is a class act, and I'm entitled, yea likely, to wipe Diet Coke off my nose&keyboard.
Somebody please talk to me about good late-model four-doors.
