Rob, excellent summary and very good explanation of the technology. I am familiar with the Eclipse design point of using software and microcode to turn on function from my days at IBM where we first used this concept to implement physical partitioning of mainframe multi-processors during the late 80s. Today, this is the standard design point; build an entire machine and turn on the features with software when the customer wants them. This is one reason the margins get so much better later in the life of Eclipse, because the manufacturing cost of the upgrade has already been recovered in the base box. The cost to STXN is just what it takes to cut a tape, disc, dvd or an electronic download.
