Shalom, In the story of Jesus' birth it goes on to say,
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night."

Has it always been a practice of Sheperds in the area to have their flocks in the field in the dead of Winter?

Also are you familiar with the Julian and Gregorian calendars and the time changes that occurred when Israel changed over to the calendar we use today? I, myself, have not studied these calendars to know exactly how many days or months, years that had to be made up for but perhaps you or someone else has. Also, can you say with any certainty just what year Jesus was born?

It appears that Jesus was born in the summer since Sheperds were in the fields.

Regards,
James
