rkral, look at the difference between when Oracle started and when they IPO'ed, thats all you need to know about how long it took them to really build up. I know Larry makes that claim, that Oracle beat DB2 to the commercialization of R-star, but realistically Oracle didn't have anything until 1986 that you could call commercial.
