<Leaders have to lead ALL the people>

Yes, that is what Kings of old Monarchies used to say, they represent ALL the people, while elected parliaments only represent those who elected them.

<not a 51% elite>

Yes, that is why single-seat, winner-takes-all districts are so funny.

Btw, by definition appr 50% are more median elite than the other 50%, any way one looks at it.

However, those two-party-50%-winner-takes-all thingies were popular only during some short decades in the late 1700s, except where they never evolved further nor backwards.

Btw, in a theoretical third party situatation, 34% takes all.

Another end-result is districts where only 7% bother to vote, or where no elections are needed, no opposition willing to waste money.
